Hello fans of Henry L. Cottrell School, and congratulations! Your community is a part of the top 50 playspaces in the running for an Imagination Playground in a Box! To move on to the next step, the site owner will need to fill out the application that was sent by September 2. We left a message with Deborah Emery (demery@kidsrsu.org) with this information. If they did not receive the message or are not the main contact for this space, please talk to our Grants Manager, Peyton Hutchins, at phutchins@kaboom.org or call her at 202-464-6415. We look forward to receiving your application by September 2 and having you move on to the judging phase!

We will have two children attending Henry L. Cottlrell School next year and are deeply saddened that their outdoor playspace is so bleak. The school, teachers and staff offer so much to our children that the only thing lacking is the playground.

A very important part of a child's education is to learn to play with others, to take turns, to have fun! Being outside and climbing and sliding is great to revitalize the kids! Is there really anything wrong with taking a break from working hard and just swinging? I'd love to have my grandchildren be able to do all that on fun, safe equipment!

This space needs a playground! How fun is it to play on a patch of land without things to climb on? Help this space!

How do you rate a playground that no longer exists? I have more equipment in my back yard than the school now does. Please come to the Monmouth Fair and Litchfield Fair to support fundraisers for the new playground!

It is very sad to walk in back of the school now and see nothing but the old tubes that the kids used to crawl through, the dumpster out back is filled with the last little bits of the play structure. Please help us win this playground for the childrens sake:)

I agree is is sad but it also allows the possibilities to be seen. A better soccer field, a baseball daimond, some kind of play structure, the possibilities are almost endless. Maybe even a large school based garden that could be used as part of the learning process. Don't just look at the negative but imagine the possibilities.

This school could certainly use a new playground and one that is modern and kid-safe.

Unfortunately, the modern and kid-safe playgrounds are very expensive. It will take a lot of fundraising to be able to afford some nice new equipment.
