Minadeo Elementary School

Hello! Welcome to our playspace...it's little more than what we call the "asphalt jungle" in the city. My daughter is a first-grader at Minadeo, and she loves to play outside. Everywhere but at Minadeo. The problem is this...at school, there are no safe spaces for them to play...there is little to no shade, there are no soft surfaces, there is no playground equipment on which to play. They do PLAY...they play tag, hopscotch, and the like. My daughter likes playing at Minadeo. She doesn't love it. I want her to love playing at her school. They do a great job academically, but I want her spirit and body to be nurtured at school, as well, and I think the best way to do so is through daily play with friends and outside in the natural world. What sorts of projects have worked well in city schools? Any ideas/photos? Thanks!
