Most other nearby schools have new equipment from slides to wooden bridges to monkey bars. S. S. Conner has old swings and not much more. The kids in our neighborhood deserve better.

My son attended Conner for three years and we live down the street. We only played on the playground once because it was really difficult to play there. Everything is worn out and several pieces of equipment are down right dangerous.

93% of the students at this school are economically disadvantaged. Most of the students live in the apartments surrounding the school and thus their homes do not have adequate places to play either. The homes in the neighborhoods surrounding the school were built in the early 1960s and have been occupied primarily by original owners. As these homes gradually transition to younger families, this playground would attract families to use it after school hours.
